University of Science and Technology Beijing
The University of Science and Technology
Beijing (USTB) was formed in 1952 by
merging the School of mining and metallurgy of
Beiyang University, the first modern
university in China established in 1895, with
the other four universities.
It is a national key university in
engineering, natural and technological
sciences, humanities, economics, law and
management, with specialization if the fields
of metallurgy and materials. It is one of the
33 universities in China that are entitled to
establish Graduate Schools. Over the past 53
years, the University has graduated nearly
70,000 students.
The National Engineering Research Center for
Advanced Rolling Technology (NERCAR)
was established in October 1996 as part of the
University. It is one of the 96 national
engineering research centers and high
technology engineering companies. The task of
NERCAR
is to further develop and transfer new
technologies to rolling industries. More than
60 professors, engineers and technicians of
NERCAR
are from universities and enterprises. About
80 graduate students are from the Material
Science, Mechanical and Information
Engineering School of the University.
There are six professional departments in
NERCAR
including Automation System, Driving System,
Rolling Technique, Rolling Equipment,
Simulation and Rolling Lab. The main research
and development fields are:
·
Computer control system of hot strip, cold
strip and plate mills (Level 1, Level 2)
·
Driving system of hot strip, cold strip and
plate mills (Level 0)
·
Production control and ERP of rolling plant
(Level 3, Level 4)
·
Shape control system of hot strip, cold strip
and plate mills
·
Technique and equipment of accelerated cooling
control for plate mill
·
Technique and equipment of bar and wire mill
·
Inspection system of surfaces
·
Development of new properties for steel and
metal product
·
Technique and equipment of part rolling
